Monoprints

Often using the conventions of exhibition posters or the title pages of books, these works describe worlds in ideas. Imbued with a sense of irony as well as history, or the irony of history, I aim to conflate the profane & the sacred. Included are allusions to or quotations from famous texts — language evocative of memory and full of imagery.
Using paper-plate lithography, drypoint, drawing, oil paints and delicate asian papers, I create works that appear well-worn. Often there may be multiple prints from a single matrix, each image unique.
Representative works from several distinct suites are shown here.
